Web & Mobile Governance Subcommittee

Charge & Purpose

The Web & Mobile Governance Subcommittee is charged with empowering shared governance to identify and advocate for opportunities for maintaining, improving, and extending the shared web and mobile content management resources in support of University strategic goals. 

Develop the University's web and mobile content management system technical and lifecycle management standards to guide maintaining, improving, and extending the communications platforms.  

Responsibilities

  • Provide input on the web and mobile publishing platforms strategic direction 
  • Advise on University web and mobile publishing policy and management practices  
  • Perform analysis and make recommendations on the best practices and standards 
  • Collaborate with ITS on prioritization of change requests 
  • Provide a forum for community of practice for University web managers and editors 
  • Advance and make recommendations to the campus community related to (or regarding) best practices for web and mobile content management 
  • Ensure the campus web and mobile content remains in compliance with legal requirements including accessibility and federal guidelines. 

Membership

The Web & Mobile governance Subcommittee membership is composed of key stakeholders who comprise the primary constituents for these communication resources. In addition to the core membership, the subcommittee will also host a Community of Practice, the membership for which will include the core members as well as any other SF State campus stakeholder with an interest in the web and mobile applications.

Meetings

  • Meeting frequency – Monthly. The Subcommittee will determine modifications to the meeting schedule as needed based on current activities. Subcommittee members may also attend the monthly community of practice meetings. 
  • Time Commitment – In addition to the scheduled meetings, members can expect to spend 1 hour between meetings reviewing related material. 
  • Meeting structure – The chair will collect agenda items prior to the meeting and circulate agendas in advance of each meeting to ensure informed discussion of scheduled topics. 
  • Reporting – The chair will report on decisions. 
  • Documentation of proceedings – All meetings will have notes of discussions, recommendations, and action items. 
  • Voting – The subcommittee does not vote. 
  • Working Groups –  No sitting working groups--ad hoc only.
  • Community of Practice – The community of practice is comprised of web and mobile stakeholders across the SF State campus community on a volunteer basis. The meetings will discuss a variety of topics, provide informal training, and create a direct communications channel to the campus stakeholders. Meetings are monthly and separate from the main subcommittee meetings. 
  • ad hoc working groups may be established to work on specific projects or topics as needed.  
  • Subcommittee Support – ITS Web & Mobile Apps and SMC provide support as required 

Policy Responsibilities

The subcommittee informs, reviews, and supports policy; it makes no policy itself.
